Confidentiality & Privacy

Your privacy is our priority. RECO Integrated Psychiatry is committed to protecting your personal health information in full compliance with HIPAA and all applicable laws.

Your Health Information Is Protected

At RECO Integrated Psychiatry, we understand that seeking mental health care requires an extraordinary level of trust. We take that trust seriously by maintaining strict compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and all applicable Florida state privacy laws.

HIPAA is a federal law that establishes national standards for the protection of your health information. Under HIPAA, your Protected Health Information (PHI) can only be used or disclosed with your written authorization, except in specific circumstances permitted by law (such as treatment, payment, or healthcare operations).

We will never share your treatment information with employers, family members, or anyone else without your explicit written consent, unless required by law.

HIPAA compliance and patient privacy

How We Protect Your Privacy

Secure Electronic Records

All patient records are maintained in HIPAA-compliant electronic health record systems with multi-factor authentication, encryption, and role-based access controls. Only authorized clinical staff can access your information.

Encrypted Communications

All digital communications, including telepsychiatry sessions and patient portal messages, are transmitted using end-to-end encryption. We never discuss patient information over unsecured channels.

Staff Training & Compliance

Every member of our team, from front desk staff to providers, undergoes annual HIPAA training and must acknowledge our privacy policies. Compliance is monitored and enforced rigorously.

Your Rights

You have the right to access your records, request corrections, obtain an accounting of disclosures, and restrict certain uses of your information. You may also file a complaint if you believe your privacy has been violated.

Important Information

A full copy of our Notice of Privacy Practices is provided to every patient at intake and is available upon request at any time. This notice describes how your medical information may be used and disclosed, and how you can access this information.

Mental Health Records: Florida law provides additional protections for mental health records beyond those required by HIPAA. Psychiatric records receive heightened confidentiality protections, and disclosure requires specific written authorization from the patient.

Substance Abuse Records: If applicable, records related to substance abuse treatment are further protected under 42 CFR Part 2, which imposes stricter disclosure requirements than standard HIPAA regulations.
