General Questions
What is integrated psychiatry?
Integrated psychiatry combines traditional psychiatric care, including medication management and diagnostic evaluations, with advanced treatments such as TMS therapy, Spravato, IV ketamine, psychotherapy, and holistic approaches. All of these services are coordinated by a single care team under one roof, ensuring comprehensive and cohesive treatment.
What is the difference between a psychiatrist and a therapist?
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MD or DO) who specializes in mental health. Psychiatrists can prescribe medications, order diagnostic tests, and manage complex psychiatric conditions. A therapist (psychologist, LMHC, LCSW) provides talk therapy using evidence-based modalities like CBT, DBT, and EMDR. At RECO, we offer both services so you can receive comprehensive care in one place.
Do I need a referral to see a psychiatrist at RECO?
In most cases, no. You can self-refer to RECO Integrated Psychiatry. However, some HMO insurance plans may require a referral from your primary care physician. Our admissions team will verify this for you when you contact us.
Where is RECO Integrated Psychiatry located?
We are located in Delray Beach, Florida. We also offer telepsychiatry services for patients throughout the state of Florida who prefer virtual appointments. Contact us at (561) 464-4077 for directions or to schedule a virtual visit.
Is RECO Integrated Psychiatry accredited?
Yes. RECO Integrated Psychiatry is accredited by the Joint Commission and CARF, and our team holds board certifications from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. We are also a LegitScript-certified healthcare provider and an active member of the American Psychiatric Association.
Services & Treatments
What is TMS therapy and how does it work?
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate specific areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. It is primarily used for treatment-resistant depression and OCD. Sessions last approximately 20 to 40 minutes, require no sedation, and patients can drive themselves home afterward. A typical course involves daily sessions over 4 to 6 weeks. Learn more about TMS therapy.
What is Spravato and who qualifies?
Spravato (esketamine) is an FDA-approved nasal spray used for treatment-resistant depression and major depressive disorder with suicidal ideation. It must be administered in a certified healthcare setting under medical supervision. Treatment sessions last about 2 hours, including a monitoring period. Patients who have not responded adequately to at least two oral antidepressants may qualify. Learn more about Spravato.
What is IV ketamine therapy?
IV ketamine therapy involves the intravenous administration of ketamine in a controlled clinical setting. It provides rapid relief for severe depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain, often within hours rather than weeks. Treatments are administered by our medical team in a comfortable, monitored environment. Learn more about IV ketamine therapy.
What is pharmacogenomic (genetic) testing?
Pharmacogenomic testing analyzes your DNA to determine how your body metabolizes psychiatric medications. This information helps your psychiatrist select the most effective medication and dosage for your unique genetic profile, reducing the trial-and-error approach to finding the right treatment. Learn more about genetic testing.
Do you offer telepsychiatry?
Yes. We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telepsychiatry appointments for patients throughout Florida. Telehealth is available for psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapy sessions. It is an excellent option for follow-up appointments and for patients who live outside the Delray Beach area. Learn more about telepsychiatry.
Insurance & Payment
What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept most major insurance plans including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Humana, Tricare, Magellan, Optum, Beacon Health, Medicare, Molina, and Ambetter. For a complete list or to verify your specific plan, please call us or submit our insurance verification form.
Does insurance cover TMS therapy?
Yes, most major insurance plans cover TMS therapy for treatment-resistant depression when certain criteria are met, typically after trying at least two antidepressant medications without adequate improvement. Our team handles prior authorization and will explain your coverage before treatment begins.
What if I do not have insurance?
We offer competitive self-pay rates, flexible payment plans with 0% interest, and a sliding scale fee structure based on financial need. We accept all major credit cards, HSA, and FSA accounts. Contact our billing team to discuss options that work for your budget.
Can I use my HSA or FSA for psychiatric services?
Yes. All of our psychiatric services, including evaluations, therapy, medication management, TMS, Spravato, and IV ketamine, are eligible expenses under Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts. We accept HSA and FSA debit cards.
Treatment Questions
How long does treatment typically last?
Treatment duration varies by individual and condition. Some patients benefit from short-term therapy lasting 8 to 12 sessions, while others with chronic conditions may benefit from ongoing care. Your treatment team will work with you to establish clear goals and regularly assess progress to determine the appropriate duration.
Will I need medication?
Not necessarily. Medication is one tool among many. Your psychiatrist will conduct a thorough evaluation and discuss whether medication is recommended for your specific situation. Many patients benefit from therapy alone or from a combination of therapy and other treatments like TMS. We never prescribe medications without careful consideration and patient consent.
What types of therapy do you offer?
We offer a wide range of evidence-based therapy modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and supportive psychotherapy. Your therapist will recommend the approach best suited to your needs.
What is the difference between outpatient, IOP, and PHP?
Outpatient care involves scheduled appointments (typically weekly or biweekly). Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) involve 3 to 5 sessions per week for several hours each, while Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) provide full-day structured treatment 5 days a week. Your clinician will recommend the level of care that matches your needs. Learn more about our programs.
Is everything I discuss with my psychiatrist or therapist confidential?
Yes. All interactions with our clinical team are protected by HIPAA regulations and professional ethical standards. Your information will not be shared without your explicit written consent, except in rare cases where there is an immediate safety concern, as required by law.
Appointments & Scheduling
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Most new patients are seen within the same week of their initial call. In urgent situations, we can often accommodate same-day or next-day appointments. Call us at (561) 464-4077 to schedule.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring a valid photo ID, your insurance card, a list of all current medications (including dosages), and any prior psychiatric or medical records you have available. Arriving 15 minutes early will give you time to complete any remaining intake paperwork.
What are your office hours?
Our office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We are closed on Sundays. Telehealth appointments may be available outside of standard office hours in some cases.
Can I schedule an appointment for a family member?
Yes. Family members and loved ones are welcome to call on behalf of someone who needs care. Our admissions team can guide you through the process and provide information about how to support your loved one in seeking treatment.
What is your cancellation policy?
We request at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a cancellation fee, as the appointment time was reserved specifically for you. We understand that emergencies happen and will always work with you on a case-by-case basis.
