Anton Bonci — Neuroscience & TMS Lead

Clinical Team

Anton Bonci, MD

Neuroscience & TMS Lead

Former Scientific Director at NIDA and senior NIH investigator — one of the most cited names in the neuroscience of addiction, now translating that research into clinical care.

Background

Dr. Anton Bonci is one of the most credentialed clinicians associated with RECO Integrated Psychiatry — a nationally recognized physician and neuroscientist with over 25 years of research and clinical innovation in addiction medicine and TMS. He served as Scientific Director at NIDA and senior investigator at the NIH, and is currently Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of GIA Healthcare.

For RECO Integrated Psychiatry, his involvement is what makes the practice's TMS program one of the most research-grounded in the region.

Approach to Care

Dr. Bonci's clinical philosophy starts from the principle that the brain is a treatable organ — and that TMS, when delivered to research-grade protocols, can be transformative for patients whose depression and other psychiatric conditions have not responded to conventional approaches. His role at RECO Integrated Psychiatry is to ensure those protocols are applied with the rigor his research background demands.

Education & Credentials

Dr. Bonci earned his medical degree from the University of Sassari in Italy and completed advanced training in neuroscience and psychiatry. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, served as Scientific Director at NIDA and senior NIH investigator, and currently serves as Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of GIA Healthcare.

What to Expect

Patients of RECO Integrated Psychiatry considering TMS or other advanced neuromodulation can take Dr. Bonci's involvement as a serious signal of program quality. His protocols guide candidate selection, treatment response measurement, and the clinical decision-making that separates a serious TMS program from a perfunctory one.
